“MAQUIA: When the Promised Flower Blooms” is what I’ve always wanted to write as a writer. I feel great pleasure as well as pressure to be able to get involved in all of the works beyond script.
The interweaving of people coming together, and their eventual breakup. It is a story onto which I hope everyone will be able to superimpose themselves.

I’ve always wanted to make an animation film in which the voice of its creator permeates every corner of the work. I recalled that I had told this very thing to scriptwriter Mari Okada. I wished to make a story that was not achieved through some theory of collaborative method, but something that was the sole tale of someone profoundly mysterious. Ms. Okada is a person who can do this in an entertaining way.
This is the story of people who love and people who are loved, and the characters, that are like blood relatives of Ms.Okada, seek for the various aspects of love. This project was never possible without Ms.Okada, who, as a scriptwriter and director, can weave words, images and sounds as one.
